GCS reminds families that students will be released from school two hours early on Thursday, April 25, to allow for Faculty Senates.

5th graders enjoyed learning about quilting on the Underground Railroad with Carnegie Hall's Creative Classrooms.

Today, Frankford 5th graders got to tour EGMS. They even had Frankford alumni, Karlie Williams as their tour guide. In just a few short weeks these students will be 6th graders.

First graders were excited to plant their seed sprouts. They started them in baggies as part of a science lesson. They monitored the differences in seeds under different circumstances. They watched one that was given sun and water, one that was given only water and one that was given only sun. Students journaled the changes the seeds made every few days.

A special helper handed out purple bracelets to all the students today for Purple Up Day. We use this day to honor our military families.

Last week third graders did a study on the solar eclipse. They studied folktales from different parts of the world that were about the eclipse. Students then created their own stories to explain the phenomenon of the eclipse using an animal of their choice!

Greenbrier County Schools was one of the first counties in WV to offer a technology device for every student 15 years ago. GCS students in grades 5-12 receive take-home devices to increase educational access at home.

Reminder: Students will be dismissed from school 3 hours early today, Monday, April 8.

Students read, think, create, share, and grow when they spend time in the school library! We're celebrating National Library Week and sending a HUGE SHOUT OUT to our amazing librarians and volunteers for turning shelves of books into gateways of wonder and learning! #NationalLibraryWeek #Read

Students in Mrs. Cantley's class celebrated today. They all have a page in their recently published book, The ABC Zoo. The students read their page to their classmates and enjoyed a sweet treat after everyone had shared.

We can't get enough of the Carnegie Classrooms at FES. This time it was Origami with the first graders.
